Have you asked yourself any of these questions?
- Why are my clothes not coming out of the dryer fully dry – or taking longer than 35 to 40 minutes?
- Why do my “clean” clothes and dryer sheets smell musty and feel especially hot just out of the dryer?
- Why am I seeing lint and fabric debris within the outside dryer vent opening?
- Why is there so much lint in the lint trap while the dryer is running?
- Why does the laundry room feel hotter than it should after a dryer operation?
If you have had these questions, it is very likely that you have a clogged dryer vent.
Dryer vents become clogged as a result of normal daily buildup of lint and other debris in dryers. This buildup reduces airflow to the dryer, potentially causing dryer exhaust gases to back up. Clothes are left too wet or too hot at the end of a drying cycle while the dryer works harder than designed.
If there is a problem, what’s next?
Determine whether the dryer vent is properly attached. Dryer vents should be cleaned at least once per year
